Global Organization for Earth System Science Portal Meeting Agenda
Second Global Organization for Earth System Science Portal Workshop: Web Portal Framework Design/Implementation Date: Monday, September 29th and Tuesday, September 30th, 2003 Location: Central Laboratory of the Research Councils, Daresbury Laboratory, England (See web site for Maps and Directions: http://www.gfdl.noaa.gov) Purpose: This second GO-ESSP Workshop will focus on metadata and web portal designs for earth-centric data sets. This design will implement a flexible framework that will allow interoperability between front-end and back-end software components. We will also focus on building an ESP Design Document to support these activities. Please think about which of the area of the design document you would like to contribute toward. Workshop Day 1: Each presenter will give a detailed presentation of what they have accomplished since the last ESP workshop for metadata and designing a web portal interface. That is, presentations will range from metadata schemas, and harvesting to web portal design details and search engines. Workshop Day 2: Summarize the work and come to a consensus on what needs to be done. List the projects that will be needed and come to an agreement on who will be responsible for each project in relationship to the design document. Pose timelines on each task assigned for the design document and follow- up with access grid meetings to follow progress. Workshop Summary: A detailed discussion will take place on what has been accomplished since our last meeting highlighting our milestones and achievements. A detailed summary will follow the workshop describing work needed to meet new milestones, tasks and assignments, time lines, and continued communications. All presentations presented at this workshop will be included in the workshop summary. Workshop Agenda-Day 1 Monday, 29 September 2003 SESSION 1.
